Kinja'd!!!

The nurse just stopped by and said that the Doctor has put in my discharge orders. Only about 48 hours after a major surgery I’m heading home - woohoo! They said they were putting me on a low-residual diet and I expected bland mush. But the tray that came had scrambled eggs, sausage, English muffins, potatoes, a banana. I had to  double-check the ticket to make sure it was for me. And had I known it was going to be real food I wouldn't have let it sit for two hours...

Sounds like things have gone about as well as could be hoped. I’m sure just getting home will feel like a big relief.

Kinda wish I could take one of these motorized/tilting hospital  beds with me. This thing is quite convenient and it’s going to be a little challenge getting out of a normal one.

Don’t know how your finances are after these unexpected medical expenses, but you can of course buy a motorized adjustable base. Mattress Firm is currently running a promotion where you get a free one with a $6 00+ mattress.

That’s great news. Take care of yourself, and stick to whatever diet they give you for as long as you’re supposed to. It might be boring, but you don’t want to hurt yourself!

Hooray!

Honestly, go easy on the food for a bit until you’ve gone to the bathroom and know things are moving normally.  What they will let you have isn’t necessarily the easiest on your tummy.  Speaking from experience.

Sweet! And that’s a surprisingly good meal for only 2 days removed!!

Wow, awesome! They’re really good at surgery these days, huh? Good work recovering well, too.

Congrats! I had outpatient surgery last week and convalescing at home is the best. I hope you have your SO lined up to help with things (food, shower, meds, etc). Best of luck on your recovery.

Maybe mount a hook to a stud in your ceiling and hang a rope?
